Kindergarten Newsletter 9/3/21

Upcoming Dates and Reminders:

  • Monday, 9/6 - Labor Day-NO SCHOOL
  • Tuesday 9/7 - First day of full day kindergartenStudents will be dismissed at 2:40. We will meet outside the front of the building at 2:40 for walkers. A teacher will escort students taking the bus or going to Y-Aspire after school program.
  • Please say goodbye to your child in the morning outside of the classroom. To keep numbers down, the principals are asking parents to not come inside the building at this time.
  • If you have not already, please complete and return the important beginning of the year paperwork this weekend and return it in your child's green folder on Tuesday. Thanks to those of you who have already returned their paperwork

Our first days have been busy and fun!  We have been focused on getting to  know each other, our school and our classroom routines. The children are doing a great job settling in and making new friends!

We had some help exploring our school from characters.  After reading Pete The Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes we followed clues from “Pete” as we found our way to the art room, front office and gym.  So if your child mentions seeing a cat or paw prints at school, please rest assured it was just a character from a beloved book about going to school!

Other highlights of our first three days include releasing a newly hatched monarch butterfly in the garden, playing on the structure on the playground, meeting our librarian Mrs. Parks, and having our first PE class with PE teacher Kim Gorey! We have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays, so those are good days for sneakers.

Please be sure to check your child's backpack for their green folder each Friday, read the enclosed information and return the folder on Monday.  It is also a good idea to check your child's backpack each night just in case something needs to come home sooner.

Thank you for your trust in sharing your amazing children with us!  In three short days, they have shown bravery in starting a new school, kindness to one another, curiosity about the world, and growth in their comfort at school!
