Fun in the Forest

We had a surprise in the forest... our climbing tree had fallen down and now it's a bridge!  We had lots of fun crossing the bridge, balancing and helping each other!

Kindergarten Celebration Night

Kindergarten Wall
Words and Music by John McCutcheon
When I was a little kid not so long ago
I had to learn a lot of stuff I didn't even know
How to dress myself, tie my shoes, how to jump a rope
How to smile for a picture without looking like a dope
But of all the things I learned my favorite of them all
Was a little poem hanging on the kindergarten wall

CHORUS:
Of all you learn here remember this the best:
Don't hurt each other and clean up your mess
Take a nap everyday, wash before you eat
Hold hands, stick together, look before you cross the street
And remember the seed in the little paper cup:
First the root goes down and then the plant grows up!

Secret Readers

Our secret readers live in New York; they really like turtles; and, they really, really really love the person they are visiting..... who are they? Olive's grandparents!! Thanks for two great stories, Diane and David!

Fort Building at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center

We had a glorious day at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center - we finally made it for our  fort building field trip that had been postponed from the winter!

The BEEC teachers set the stage for our need to build a fort that could protect a class of students from bad weather by telling a story (very much like the Magic School Bus series) in which a school trip had been thrown off course after the bus collided with a moose.

We headed up the hill and set off into the woods to work as a team to build a stick and leaf fort that could keep out the elements.

It was a lot of work collecting enough sticks and leaves to build a fort that could hold all 17 students!

When we finished, we had enough room to fit all the kids inside for a well-deserved and much needed snack!

We checked out a different type of fort built by Emily and Laura's class.

When our fort was built, we headed out of the woods. Here we are flying down the hill!

We had a great day at BEEC!  And a special thanks to the Brattleboro Kiwanis for making a donation to help cover the cost of our trip!
