Fort Building at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center

We had a glorious day at Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center - we finally made it for our  fort building field trip that had been postponed from the winter!

The BEEC teachers set the stage for our need to build a fort that could protect a class of students from bad weather by telling a story (very much like the Magic School Bus series) in which a school trip had been thrown off course after the bus collided with a moose.

We headed up the hill and set off into the woods to work as a team to build a stick and leaf fort that could keep out the elements.

It was a lot of work collecting enough sticks and leaves to build a fort that could hold all 17 students!

When we finished, we had enough room to fit all the kids inside for a well-deserved and much needed snack!

We checked out a different type of fort built by Emily and Laura's class.

When our fort was built, we headed out of the woods. Here we are flying down the hill!

We had a great day at BEEC!  And a special thanks to the Brattleboro Kiwanis for making a donation to help cover the cost of our trip!
