Blueberry Pancakes with Bonny

Our class is participating in a series of 6 nutrition lessons that promote healthy food and activity choices while enhancing literacy and comprehension skills. These lessons are taught by Bonny White, Nutrition Educator for the UVM Extension Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. Here are the kindergartners making blueberry pancakes (after having played a fun and active game of keeping the "blueberry" balloon off the ground!)

Kindergarten Engineers

As part of our science curriculum, we read a short story about monsters who need shade. We posed the problem, "Can you build a structure that will reduce the warming effects of sunlight?" First the kindergartners drew a sketch of their idea and then they built their structures. We used thermometers to check the difference in temperature in the sun and inside their structures.
