Apple Orchard

We have been preparing for our apple orchard trip by learning about the life cycle of an apple tree through the four seasons.

We incorporated some of our work with letter names and sounds into our apple study – please check out our “a is for apple” bulletin board!

Ask your child about today’s trip to the orchard and what they liked best!

PARENT - TEACHER    CONFERENCES

Thursday, Nov. 7th (an early release day) and Friday, Nov. 8th (an early release day) are the designated parent-teacher conference days.  If you did not sign up for a conference at Open House, please complete and return the enclosed conference sign up sheet as soon as possible. Thank you!

THANKS!

Thanks to all of you who were able to attend our Welcome Back to School BBQ and Open House!

Thank you to those of you who donated for another student to go on the orchard trip. We really appreciate your generosity!

Our Monarch Butterfly

After much patient watching and waiting, a monarch butterfly emerged from its chrysalis! We released it in the school garden.

Special Guests for Choice Time

Firefighters Dan and Andrew from the Brattleboro Fire Department joined us for games and drawing at choice time!

Our Trip to the Apple Orchard

We had a lovely day at the orchard! The kindergartners picked apples, visited the pony, pressed apple cider, ate apple donuts, and took a hayride through the orchard! We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day!

Fun in the Forest

Weather-permitting, you will find the kindergartners in the forest on Wednesday mornings!

Storytime with Mrs. Dias

The kindergartners look forward to their weekly storytime with our principal, Mrs. Dias!

Our First Weeks

Our first weeks have been busy and fun!  We have been focused on getting to know each other, our school and our classroom routines. The children are doing a great job settling in and making new friends!

We had some help exploring our school from characters.  After reading The Kissing Hand, we followed clues from “Chester the raccoon” as we found our way to the library, front office, and health office.  So if your child mentions seeing a raccoon at school, please rest assured it was just a character from a beloved book about going to school for the first time!

In our classroom, we are lucky to have Brenda Wood as our full-time paraprofessional, Tom Heisler, and Stephanie Kendall as ½ day paraprofessionals. We are also lucky to have Allie Gregory, an intern from Antioch University, with us for the first semester.

This is the first of this year’s classroom newsletters.  I will be sending one home in your child’s mail folder monthly (or more frequently if the need arises.) Please be sure to check your child’s folder each Friday, read the enclosed information and return the folder on Monday.  It is also a good idea to check your child's backpack each night just in case something needs to come home sooner.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.  Communication is an important part of our work as partners on behalf of your child’s educational growth and development.  You can reach me at school at 254-3743 x119 or at ENam@wsesdvt.org.

Class Communication List
Enclosed in your child's green folder you will find our class communication list for making play dates and sending birthday invitations. Please check that your information is correct. Thanks!
