Beavers

This week we have continued learning about winter survival with Sarah Tsalbins, an environmental educator from Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center. Via Zoom with Sarah, the kindergartners learned about beavers and their special adaptations such as clear eyelids to see underwater and large tails that help them swim and store fat needed during the winter. To teach this beaver lesson, Sarah "became" a beaver using swim goggles and swim flippers to model the beavers' special adaptations. Beavers are a great example of animals who change their environment to meet their needs (and help a lot of other animals who depend on the pond habitat.)
